What does it mean to “throw out your back”?
Throwing out your back usually means that the muscles in your lower back have gone into spasm due to a strain from bending, lifting or twisting the wrong way. This spasm that occurs causes pain that, luckily for most, is only temporary. There are some occasions where low back pain can be caused by something that is more serious than a “tweak” and should require a trip to the emergency room. These things could be an infection, cancer, or a broken vertebra.
