Are you pregnant and experiencing back pain? Back pain is extremely common in pregnancy and occurs in about 50-70% of pregnant women. It most commonly occurs during the later stages (late second to third trimester) but can occur during any part of pregnancy. This can be increasingly frustrating as the pain interrupts your daily living.
Throwing out your back usually means that the muscles in your lower back have gone into spasm due to a strain from bending, lifting or twisting the wrong way. This spasm that occurs causes pain that, luckily for most, is only temporary. There are some occasions where low back pain can be caused by something that is more serious than a “tweak” and should require a trip to the emergency room. These things could be an infection, cancer, or a broken vertebra.
